Life as a Singleton

Okay, I got asked for the second time in a row by one of my ESL students if I was married. Picture, pointing to the ring finger and me looking at my bare one. For the second time in a row, I answered "uh, no."

Last time:

Student: "You no married?"

Me: (sheepishly) "Uh, no."

Student: "Why not?"

Me: Ummmmm, well....uhhhhhh....they say all DC guys are either gay or married. You know gay?

Student: Yes, ha ha, but you so beautiful. No boyfriend?

Sheesh, what are you, my mother?

This time made me feel a wee bit better.

Student: "You married?"

Me: "No single"

Student: "You single? Better that way. You single--you go where you want."

By the way, this one had 6 children.

Anyway, that's part of my life as a singleton...particularly at ESL.

  1. You are so creative the bed skirt looks great and the drawer, love that duct tape. I think maybe I would leave another note but ask some others I am not a good one to offer that type of advice. Besides Can't he hear the vacuum. You have to admit, better than smoke but a bit loud and annoying when you want to wind down from a busy day. Better days ahead.Guess Who

  2. Enjoying your blog- My brother lived on E Street NE for about 20 years and had a similar problem with neighbors on other side of the wall. He bought a white noise radio and it played soothing noises just above the neighbors decibel. Just a thought.

  3. Thanks--hmmm, must be something about my neighborhood because that's close to where I live! I do have a white noise machine, but I'm thinking of upgrading...

  4. There are definitely many plusses to being single!!! What I wouldn't give for a day to myself!!!

Since you have great taste in blogs, I don't think I have to tell you to be nice to each other...and don't spam me. Thanks!
